A Stop in San Gimignano, Italy
An hour outside Florence lies the quaint, medieval town of San Gimignano. I stopped there for about an hour and a half on a winery tour and it was the perfect amount of time to roam the cobblestone streets, peak in the shops, try "the best gelato in the world" (which is the town's claim to fame), and grab a bite to eat in the main piazza.
Treat yourself to a wine tasting
Before making our way to San Gimignano, we stopped at the winery Fattoria Poggio Alloro where we saw how wine is made, the incredible views of the medieval town, and Tuscany's stunning green rolling hills. I literally felt like I was living inside a painting, it was so beautiful! We tasted wine and bruschetta before heading to San Gimignano. This winery also has a bed & breakfast which I'm sure would have been lovely to stay at.
Wander San Gimignano's medieval streets & towers
My only complaint about San Gimignano was how full of tourists it was. I guess for a little town near Florence that gives you a taste of Tuscany, you have to expect that! It really was a beautiful and unique little place.
