How to Spend Three Days in Prague

Picture
In November, I visited my boyfriend who was studying abroad in London for the fall semester over my Thanksgiving break. I was visiting for 9 days and we spent 4 days in London, 3 days in Prague and 2 days in Norway. During our time in Prague, I was in awe of the city's medieval architecture --- it's absolutely breathtaking and I loved all the red roofs and cobblestone streets.

Day One

We started our first day by visiting Prague Castle, which has a stunning view of the city and is home to the St. Vitus Cathedral. From there we walked toward the Charles Bridge. Before crossing the bridge we stopped down by the Vltava River and saw a lot of swans. The bridge itself is FULL of tourists. On our last day we admired the Charles Bridge from across the river on a lesser known bridge that's parallel to it, and walked the Charles Bridge again at night. This way we got to take in its beauty without being in a swarm of people, so I preferred that. :)

Once over the bridge, we walked toward Old Town Square to see the Astronomical Clock Tower. We had heard about a beer garden that overlooked the city called Letna Park, so we made our way up there. We didn't end up finding it, but we did catch the sun setting over the river which was probably the best view of our whole trip.

Day Two

On our second day, we took a Student Agency Bus to the quaint little town of Cesky Krumlov. It's 3 hours each way so we left really early and came back around dinnertime. You really only need a few hours to explore the whole town. It is such a hidden gem and there weren't that many tourists there! We spent our time exploring the streets and shops and going up the Cesky Krumlov Castle. If you have a few days in Prague, this is definitely a place to check out. It's right between Prague and Vienna so if you're doing an Eastern Europe trip it's a good place to stop whether you're taking public transportation or roadtripping.

Day Three

On our last day in Prague, we didn't really have any plans besides walking around (if you consider that a plan). We started our day at Wenceslas Square and made our way to the John Lennon Wall. There was a guy playing Beatles music and I just loved it there. We had lunch at a really cute restaurant on a canal near there --- the sausage in Prague is soooo good. At night we went up the Astronomical Clock Tower which I'm so happy we did because the city looks so different at night!
